THE MAN OF STYLE
Teesaan Koo enters a room with an effortless presence. Dressed casually but meticulously, there’s no denying his innate sense of style. It’s not just his clothing—it’s the totality of his persona.
The Melbourne-based watch collector has carved a niche for himself as a connoisseur of timelessness, all while maintaining an unassuming charm.
“I dress for comfort and occasion,” Teesaan says simply. “Hopefully, it works.” Reflecting on his personal evolution, he shares, “There was a time when I was trying to find my style. Now, I’d like to think I’ve found my place.”
For Teesaan, style is more than a surface-level pursuit; it’s a way of being. Whether it’s his cars, watches, or approach to life, he embodies thoughtful choices.
WHY STYLE MATTERS
Ultimately, Teesaan’s philosophy is about living life surrounded by beauty and meaning. “If you’re going to live, why not do it surrounded by things that inspire you?” he asks. Whether it’s a watch on his wrist, the countryside outside his window, or a cherished moment shared with friends, Teesaan’s world is defined by appreciation and intention.
“It’s not about keeping up with the Joneses,” he concludes. “It’s about finding what resonates with you and wearing it proudly—whether that’s a bespoke suit, a classic car, or a beautiful watch.”
STORIES CAPTURED IN TIME
Teesaan’s collection, which includes over 60 watches, is a testament to his deep appreciation for narrative and craftsmanship. Each piece tells a unique story.
One of his favourites is a recent gift from his partner. “We were in New York, visiting a boutique of a microbrand I’ve admired for years,” he recalls. “She chose a watch for me as a birthday present. It wasn’t what I expected, but I loved it. It’s now a reminder of that trip and her thoughtfulness.”
For Teesaan, a watch is a deeply personal gift. “It’s something you wear every day,” he says. “It becomes part of your life, and it can mean something really special.”
MELBOURNE: A WATCH COLLECTOR’S HAVEN
A Sydney native who made Melbourne his home in 2012, Teesaan has fully embraced Melbourne’s rich cultural and social fabric, finding it the perfect environment for watch collectors to thrive. “Melbourne is the perfect place for watch enthusiasts,” he says. “There’s a vibrant community of collectors, and you can see the city appreciates design and craftsmanship.”
For Teesaan, Melbourne offers something distinctly different from Sydney. “In Sydney, everything feels more fragmented,” he says. “After hours, the CBD clears out, but in Melbourne, it stays alive with restaurants, wine bars, and events. It creates opportunities to connect.”
This vibrant social landscape also defines Melbourne’s watch culture. “There’s a strong sense of community,” he says. “It’s not just about the watches—it’s about the stories and the people behind them.”
THE ALLURE OF WRISTWATCH CHECK
The Wristwatch Check event, held in the iconic Fox Classic Car Museum, has Teesaan buzzing with excitement. “The combination of watches and cars is amazing,” he says. “You put them together, and it just works.”
As a judge at Wristwatch Check, Teesaan reflects on the challenge of selecting the best watch of the night. “It wasn’t about the most expensive watch,” he explains. “It was about the story, the craftsmanship, and what it means to the owner.”
This philosophy underpins his belief in the unique power of watches. “A watch is so much more than just telling the time,” he muses. “It’s part of you. It can evoke memories. It can remind you of a person or a moment in time.”
THE RISE OF MICROBRANDS
Teesaan’s enthusiasm for microbrands is unmistakable. “The quality is fantastic, and the styles are amazing. Some of them replicate the 1970s, which is my favourite decade for watch design,” he says.
For him, microbrands offer something truly distinct. “Anyone can go out and buy a $20,000 watch, but it’s more interesting to find something unique, personal—something that’s part of a journey,” he says.
Microbrands are thriving by delivering high-quality timepieces in the $1,000 to $10,000 range, appealing to collectors who seek individuality over ubiquity. “There’s this movement of people who already have watches from the big names,” Teesaan observes. “Now they’re looking for something different, something unique or rare.”
These independent brands, unburdened by mass production or corporate expectations, capture imaginations with bold designs and compelling stories. For collectors, they represent a new wave of creativity—exciting, personal, and full of potential.
JUST BE YOURSELF
As Teesaan prepares for the next chapter in his watch-collecting journey, his timeless approach and simple ethos serves as an inspiration. Smooth, stylish, and endlessly charismatic, he proves that elegance is more than a look; it’s a way of life.
In a world of fleeting trends, Teesaan Koo reminds us that style isn’t about what others think. It’s about feeling good and living a life full of moments you love.
